The following is a story that only our Creator could have conceived. It has given me a glimpse into our eternal home in Heaven. My prayer is that it will do the same for you.
I first came across the name Ian McCormack in a movie my wife and I recently watched on Amazon Prime called, “The Perfect Wave” (2014). Of course, I couldn’t miss a surfing movie with a name like that, especially considering that my tagline for “Surfing in Heaven” is all about my search for the perfect wave.
The movie is an incredible true story about Ian‘s life as a young Kiwi (New Zealander) surfer who was stung by a deadly box jellyfish off the coast of Africa, where he died in a hospital room. The end of the movie, to me, is where the story begins, as Ian returns back to life forever changed by his dramatic encounter with Jesus. He has spent the next forty-two years telling people about the truth of the Bible. The comparisons to the life of the apostle Paul (Saul of Tarsus), who wrote so much of the New Testament, are unavoidable.
Following is a 37-minute recording of an interview I had with Ian over Zoom on June 24, 2024. This recording can be enjoyed as a podcast (audio only) or as a video.
And just in case you are wondering, yes, I did ask Ian if there would be surfing in Heaven. You are going to like his answer!
I challenge you to watch/listen to this recording and think seriously about what will happen when you take your final breath. Are you confident you will see Heaven?
Ian’s story has brought me closer to God in ways I never could have anticipated, while inspiring me to forge ahead boldly with publishing “Surfing in Heaven”.
I welcome comments (“reply” below) on your reactions to it.
All glory to God for bringing Ian into my life!
